Free ebook on Liberation Theology!
I’m tempted to try and coin a new word, “freeebook”, but that’s ridiculous and looks too much like “facebook” when typed out and that is plain ol’ unacceptable.
Anyway, back to the point. Since I am ahead of schedule by a week on the publishing schedule, I thought I’d take advantage of the time to crank out this short, but timely ebook “Liberation Theology: Prelude to Revolution”. Both the EPUB and MOBI versions are available for FREE!
Though written in 1987, this book is still timely today around the world as I mention in my foreword to the book (provided below to whet your appetite).
You acquire even free ebooks from the Shop page. You “purchase” them for $0.00 and they get emailed to you as part of that process.
Foreword by Tim Renshaw
For those on the older side of life with memories of the 70’s and 80’s, liberation theology is at least a phrase with which we have some passing familiarity. With the fall of the Soviet Union, China revising its policies toward the middle of the economic spectrum toward capitalism with solid, positive results, communism / socialism have been proven a total failure. This isn’t a surprise to any student of the Bible, history or economics.
What is a surprise is that socialism is back being “cool”. Just today, May 21, 2019, Gallup released poll results showing that 40% of Americans embrace socialism as a positive thing. Everyone is familiar with the acronym, SJW, Social Justice Warriors. This is in many ways just a re-branding of liberation theology for the portion of SJW’s that try to pass off their viewpoint as something “christian”. They are in fact Socialist Justice Warriors, Marxists to the core. Marxism is a philosophy of envy and covetousness in direct disobedience to God’s commands.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Exodus 20:17
Do you see an exceptions mentioned for those neighbors deemed richer than you? Any exceptions for those Marx defined as belonging to the bourgeoisie, “capitalist pig”, class? Nope. They answer to God, just like you, but not to you.
Liberation theology is still a big “thing” in South America and other parts of the world, not having been re-branded for North American tastes. In fact, this book was requested by a missionary in Brazil specifically to help in combating liberation theology, still overtly prevalent and taught there.
Consequently, this book is very timely as Marxism lives on. Clearly, injustice lives on. Just as clearly, justice is desirable. Not just desirable, but commanded by God.
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.
Isaiah 1:16-17
He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
Justice is determined by God, not man. Not capitalist man, not socialist man, not Republican party man, not Democrat party man, not variously shaded melanin man, not country man, not city man, not any man, but God alone. God has not left us in the dark about what He demands in regard to justice. He has clearly revealed His will in His word, the Bible.
We disregard His laws and commandments, true justice, at our peril. God makes this clear in the verses following Isaiah 1:16-17, above:
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
“If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land; “But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword.”
Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah 1:18-20
The choice is clear. Obey God, embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, place your trust and faith in Him, not a bastardized gospel as espoused in liberation theology or the socialist justice movement. You want to help the poor, to release the captive, to give sight to the blind, to free the oppressed? Run and fall at the feet of Jesus, confess your sins, repent of your evil ways and walk in His statutes, His justice. Then, disciple others to do the same and “find rest for your souls”.
And He [Jesus] came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
Luke 4:16-19
“Come to Me [Jesus], all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
